Closed Recirculating System Water Treatment
Hot and chilled water loops, used for heating, refrigeration, and/or air conditioning, are typical of closed recirculating systems. Cooling water, for example, is pumped through heat exchange equipment and warmed, then recirculated in a closed-loop to a cooling heat exchange system before returning to pick up more process heat.
While there are usually minimal make-up water requirements and exposure to the atmosphere, closed systems can experience corrosion, microbiological growth and metal oxide deposition.
